Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett was knocked out of Sunday's game with a rib injury sustained as he absorbed a crushing blow from Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Adam Gotsis just before halftime.
Pickett was evaluated at halftime and returned to the sideline for the start of the second half. Yet his status was downgraded to out while Mitchell Trubisky came on in relief.
The injury finished off a frustrating day for the second-year pro as Pittsburgh managed just 100 yards in the first half.
Pickett wound up completing 10 of 16 passes for 73 yards with a 73.2 passer rating. His final play came with a bit of an insult on top of the injury as Gotsis appeared to hurl the quarterback to the turf after Pickett released a pass (which fell incomplete), and the defensive lineman wasn't penalized for roughing the passer.
